Professional Art League
Professional Art League (P.A.L.) is inspired to create an awareness of the arts in local cities through the art of competition. We want to produce a format to showcase, not just an artist's work, but also the process of an artist's creation. PAL sees the value in the process of creating art, so our idea is to take artists from Southern California and put them to the task of showcasing their work in action. The process of having art shown can be tedious, but to do an art battle where artists are actually competing is the most basic way to showcase an artist's talent; not something they spent nine months creating, but something in two hours that they were able to unveil before the audience's eyes.
The Story
The Inspiration
Professional Art League (P.A.L.) is inspired to create an awareness of the arts in local cities through the art of competition. We want to produce a format to showcase, not just an artist's work, but also the process of an artist's creation. PAL sees the value in the process of creating art, so our idea is to take artists from Southern California and put them to the task of showcasing their work in action. The process of having art shown can be tedious, but to do an art battle where artists are actually competing is the most basic way to showcase an artist's talent; not something they spent nine months creating, but something in two hours that they were able to unveil before the audience's eyes.
We have run an artist gallery for almost three years where people were just observers, but our vision is to give the audience a voice in the art. The audience can, with their votes and input, shape the reality and art, which is being created; lend ideas and choose how this art is being finished. No one artist is self-generated inspiration, but we can gather the inspiration communities and bring all those pieces together to showcase them and involve the general spectator.
Our Niche
Our niche is specifically installation art. We want to challenge artists to think in three-dimensional formats. Installation isn't a new form of art, but it has gained popularity because of companies like Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie or with artists like Wes Bruce & David Ellis. They are pioneering mainstream installation art and the idea of art coming off the canvas; having its own character. Our opinion is that installation art is the highest form of showcasing someone's talent because it requires a good balance of planning and spontaneity.
The Vision
We hope to bring a bigger awareness to the art scene, both locally and nationally. If you track art movements, underground in Europe or New York, it's viral. With the networks we have built, we hope to continue to find southern California's most incredible unknown artists and to create a legitimized art community in the form of this Professional Art League. When there is an organized effort to see a community build, it creates momentum for awareness and awareness is what an artist hopes for. PAL wants to create awareness for artists and allow spectators to have a piece of the art creation process.

PAL partners with organizations with a common mission to uplift the arts and grow the artist community through local events in your city. Compete to represent your neighborhood/organization through creative live art battles using different tools, mediums, and "canvases" and show your city that art is worth fighting for.
Details will be included in application. Crews consist of three artists and one substitute, and must be from the same organization or region to apply. All participants must be local residents of city they are competing in and must abide by all rules and guidelines to compete.
